Colette M. Casavant

 

Lead Academic Coordinator

Washington State University

 

Colette M. Casavant is the Lead Academic Coordinator for Washington State University’s (WSU) College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). She is also the academic advisor for the Agriculture Food Systems (AFS) and Integrated Plant Sciences Bachelor of Science degree programs as well as for WSU’s Minorities in Agriculture and Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) student club. Colette serves as the CAHNRS Liaison for WSU’s Team Mentoring Program, a program designed to support underrepresented students in STEM majors. She joined WSU after a career in academic and admissions counseling at Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry. Born and raised in Pullman, WA, Colette pursued a BA in Sociology and Anthropology at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. After graduation, she moved to Sitka, AK where she worked within indigenous communities in domestic violence and sexual assault prevention. She moved to Seattle, WA to pursue a MA in theology and leadership followed by an EdD in Educational Leadership. Her research interests include student community engagement as a strategy to increase student retention. Colette is passionate about supporting students in their personal, academic, and professional goals. She seeks to support students from a wholistic perspective, understanding that students’ complete story affects their present and future life choices and experiences.
